Carol Schmold is an emerging fibre artist who, after living in Calgary, Alberta for almost 40 years, has relocated to Plenty, Saskatchewan, a village of only 150 people.
A lifelong interest in textiles led to a background in historical needlework, textile conservation, and interior design, and more recently, her current explorations into the complex possibilities of fibre art.
On January 1st, 2007 she embarked on a yearlong personal journey project, producing one piece of art per week while documenting the creative process and cataloguing the resulting 52 pieces. She is currently in the process of writing a book based on this experience and has been exhibiting her artwork publicly since April, 2008.

Congratulations on Your wins this past weekend . I’m wondering if you we’re one of the Judges this weekend.
Thank you so much for your lovely note. This was the first time I have entered a quilt show of this nature and submitted nine pieces. I was not one of the judges for the show, however, I have given trunk shows and an inspirational lecture at some of their events and I will be presenting the Saskatoon Quilters Guild workshop program for an entire week in October, 2018.
Good Morning . That will be a Wonderful experience next year. I had 3 items in the show thus year . Have a Wonderful Day.
Congrats on having three pieces entered into the show, Robin! It is a wonderful feeling to see your work hanging in a prestigious show like the Saskatoon Quilters Guild biennial, isn’t it! Best wishes, carol

This beautiful woman and her lovely father happened to stumble into my family restaurant while I was working one morning. I’ve never experienced such a wonderful encounter. Passion, dedication, tradition, but most of all, I saw the love in her family as I saw in mine.
I litteraly had to tear myself away from the table, reminding myself I had to work and was still on the clock.
I cannot, and will not ever forget this encounter. But, what really melted my heart was that she became such a beautiful artist who thrives in her passion. I was almost in tears, because I was so happy to see what I can become. Her wonderful father told me life values though his experiences and stories, very similar to what my parents have told me. Her family supported her brilliance the way my family does mine. That passion is visible in her art, and inspired me more than words can say. It was pure coincidence, and fate some would say. Personally, I believe it was life showing me the beauty of a good family, hard work, and commitment towards our dreams. It was life giving me a gift I shall never forget.
To anyone else, it would have just been a simple lunch out. To me, it gave me fire in my soul.
My Dearest Stavi, Thank you so much for your beautiful words! In life there is no such thing as coincidence, and I feel as though our meeting was fate or destiny bringing us together for a greater purpose. Although we are of different generations, we do have so many things in common, and perhaps we are kindred spirits finally brought together through the magic of art. Your kindness and generosity of spirit was overwhelming and it is clear to me that you have a genuine passion for your fellow human beings and for life. Whatever path you take in life will always be successful because of your commitment to those values which you speak of. Stay the course, my little friend, and enjoy the adventure! and I hope you will continue to share part of it with me. I will look forward to hearing from you again.
With love, carol
